Basketball Recap: Wilmington Friends Comes Up Short

On Tuesday, Wilmington Friends faced Sanford in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Wilmington Friends Quakers were dealt a 68-40 defeat at the hands of the Sanford Warriors. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Quakers have suffered since February 13, 2024.

Sanford had a senior duo take command as Jayden Taylor went 7 of 8 en route to 14 points and five rebounds and Khareem Hart went 5 for 11 on his way to 13 points along with six assists and five boards. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for Hart. The team also got some help courtesy of Zir Ellegood, who posted six points and seven assists.

Wilmington Friends' defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Sanford, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Wilmington Friends has already played their next game, a 51-30 loss against St. Andrew's on the 23rd. As for Sanford, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 71-48 win against Tatnall on the 24th.
