Gilbert is 2-8 against Campo Verde since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. Gilbert will face off against Campo Verde at 3:45 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Gilbert proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by seven) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Mountain Pointe 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since March 21, 2024.

Johhny King tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because Gilbert is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-8 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Gilbert saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Raiden Brown, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Brown hit this season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Campo Verde, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against Horizon by a score of 10-7 on Thursday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Coyotes as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Ezekiel Zion made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaden Evahnenko, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Xavier Roberson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Gilbert's record now sits at 3-9. As for Campo Verde, their record is now 7-4.
Gilbert came out on top in a nail-biter against Campo Verde in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gilbert since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
