Baseball Recap: Addison Trail Comes Up Short

Addison Trail extended their losing streak to five on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 8-19 in the process. They came up short against the Downers Grove North Trojans, falling 12-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blazers of the 6-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Addison Trail saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eric DeBeau, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.

As for Downers Grove North, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 21-5. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Downers Grove North's side, Colin Houlihan looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Houlihan has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Luke Fordonski, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Edgar Santos, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Addison Trail will welcome Leyden at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Downers Grove North, they will face off against Lyons at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
