Black Hills - Mount Rushmore recap October 1, 2013

Hot Springs took down Pine Ridge 40-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

The Bison led Black Hills - Mount Rushmore in scoring this week after putting up 40 points on the Thorpes.

Newt Johnson was a passing and rushing force as More topped Douglas. Johnson's key target this week was Jacob Henderson, who caught 3 passes for 69 yards.

Tanner Weaver threw for 190 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Cole Thurness made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Cavaliers defeated the Patriots. The 5-foot-10 sophomore recorded 2 fumbles.

Johnson was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 165 yards on 20 carries as More fell to Rapid City Central. Caden Skinner also contributed to the rushing game with 75 yards on the ground.

Sturgis Brown's Weaver and Kracht have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Weaver has thrown for 696 yards this season, while Kracht, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 15 catches for 358 yards. Johnson from Wayne Sullivan's team leads the league in rushing with 379 yards.

An important game coming up in Black Hills - Mount Rushmore this week will be when Bill Godsil's team takes on Hot Springs. Sturgis Brown is currently in fifth, while Ben Kramer's team is in second.

Belle Fourche made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,110 from 12,115. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 17-6 victory over Custer last week.
