Softball Game Recap: Fordyce Redbugs vs. Gurdon Go-Devils

Fordyce had lost 13 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-10 to make it 14. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 17-0 to the Gurdon Go-Devils, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. If the Redbugs were looking for revenge after losing 19-1 to the Go-Devils when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Gurdon, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-7. The match marked their most dominant victory of the season.

For Gurdon's part, Sadie Griffin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Griffin has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Mikaela Bradshaw was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillie Garner, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.

Looking ahead, Fordyce will be playing at home against Ouachita at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gurdon, they are taking a road trip to square off against Cutter-Morning Star at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
