Softball Game Preview: Watauga Pioneers vs. Freedom Patriots

Watauga is on a five-game streak of home losses, and Freedom a 13-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Watauga Pioneers will be playing at home against the Freedom Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Watauga has given up an average of 11.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Watauga lost 17-3 to Hibriten on Friday.

Meanwhile, Freedom fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Ashe County on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Huskies. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 21, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Watauga's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Freedom, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-14.

Watauga was able to grind out a solid win over Freedom when the teams last played back in March, winning 14-11. Do the Pioneers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
