Penasco is 0-4 against Estancia since March of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Bears at 3:00 p.m. Penasco is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
While Penasco's win against Questa wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers won by a run and slipped past the Wildcats 4-3.

Xzavier Montoya spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on three hits and racked up ten Ks. Penasco is 3-1 when Montoya allows one or fewer earned runs, but 4-8 otherwise.
At the plate, Penasco's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kaileb Atencio, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Estancia, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They never let Clayton get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won five contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Michael Anaya was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Devon Chavez, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Estancia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. They are 6-3 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Penasco's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Estancia, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Penasco has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .454. However, it's not like Estancia struggles in that department as they've averaged .556. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
