Basketball Game Preview: Elite Academy Eagles vs. Pathways Eagles

Elite Academy will take on Pathways in a tournament on Friday. One thing working in Elite Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matchups.

Elite Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They managed a 79-75 win over Non Varsity Tournament Opponent on February 6th.

It was another big night for Levi Brown, who posted 30 points and five assists. He is becoming a predictor of Elite Academy's success: when he posts at least 25 points the team is undefeated (and 8-12 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Burell, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 15 boards.

Meanwhile, it's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Pathways can now relate to. They lost to the Lions at home by a 73-56 margin on Saturday. Surprisingly, this marked the third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Elite Academy will have to keep a close watch on Kirk Duhaney and Roy Berry, a pair of players who had a big impact on Pathways' prior game. Duhaney went 7-for-12 to rack up 18 points and four steals, while Berry shot 57% from the field on his way to 20 points and six steals. Duhaney has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Shabiah Gordon was another key player, putting up ten points.

Elite Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-12. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points over those games. As for Pathways, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-12.

Elite Academy couldn't quite finish off Pathways in their previous meeting back in November of 2025 and fell 59-57. Can Elite Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
