Baseball Recap: Everett Comes Up Short

Everett extended their losing streak to seven on Wednesday, dropping them down to 3-12. They came up short against the Lynn English Bulldogs, falling 18-8. The Crimson Tide were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 6-4.

Everett saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Freni, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Freni is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another was MJ Guida, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

As for Lynn English, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-6. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

On Lynn English's side, the team relied heavily on Gilbert Galva, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Galva a new career-high. Ewerd Beato was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Looking ahead, Everett will head out to challenge Lynn Vo-Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lynn English, they will face off against Somerville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
