Mathis has gone 8-2 against Taft recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Pirates will head out to take on the Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. Mathis is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.
Mathis had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Aransas Pass on Friday. The Pirates blew past the Panthers 13-3. Considering the Pirates have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Angelina Hernandez was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Marivel Martinez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Mathis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .686. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .537 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Taft unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Odem by a score of 7-5.
Juliana Alaniz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Mathis pushed their record up to 14-6-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Taft, their loss dropped their record down to 16-9.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mathis hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .466. However, it's not like Taft struggles in that department as they've averaged .360. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mathis came out on top in a nail-biter against Taft in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
