Baseball Preview: Franklin County Flyers vs. West Jessamine Colts

Franklin County hasn't had much luck against West Jessamine recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. Franklin County will be playing at home against West Jessamine at 6:30 p.m. Franklin County will be strutting in after a win while West Jessamine will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Franklin County turned things around against Garrard County on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Golden Lions 5-4.

Jacob Golson made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Golson was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Macayne MacDonald looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Meanwhile, West Jessamine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 12-1 to Sayre. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

West Jessamine saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Brock, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

West Jessamine's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6-1. As for Franklin County, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.
