Basketball Recap: Cerritos Takes a Loss

Cerritos lost against Downey back in November of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Cerritos Dons took a 54-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Downey Vikings. The Dons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Tyler Harris was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 16 rebounds for Downey. That makes it three consecutive games in which Harris has scored at least a third of Downey's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emilio Jaimes, who posted 12 points.

Cerritos' loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Downey, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Cerritos will take on Eastlake in a tournament on Thursday. One thing working in Eastlake's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matches. As for Downey, they will be taking part in a tournament against Imperial at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
