Softball Preview: Fairfax Lions vs. Woodson Cavaliers
The Fairfax Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Woodson Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Fairfax will be strutting in after a win while Woodson will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Friday, it was close, but Fairfax sidestepped West Potomac for a 4-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for Fairfax.
Sophia Sharp was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Thompson, who went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
Meanwhile, Woodson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 7-2 to West Springfield.
Fairfax's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Woodson, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9-1.
Fairfax beat Woodson 4-1 in their previous matchup on April 5th. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fairfax since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
