The Little Chute Mustangs will be playing at home against the Waupaca Comets at 4:30 p.m. Little Chute has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Oconto Falls hit Little Chute with a four-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers.
Bella Pfrang was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Emma Lendved, who earned two RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Waupaca scored first but ultimately less than Freedom in their contest on Tuesday. They lost 19-11 to the Irish.
Hailey Bechard stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Liberty Pankow was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Little Chute's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Waupaca, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.
Waupaca's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Little Chute has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Waupaca, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 strikeouts. Will Little Chute keep running through batters, or will the Comets buck the trend?
