Basketball Recap: Mullen's Run of Five Straight Victories Now Over

It was a good run, but Mullen unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 40-21 bruising from the Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons. The game marked the Broncos' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Mullen's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Hayley Donohoe, who posted eight points and five rebounds, and Jenna Donohoe, who put up eight points. Hayley is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brynne McCully, who earned three points and three steals.

Madison Bunger was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 16 points and 14 boards for Wilcox-Hildreth. What's more, Bunger posted five blocks, the most she's had since back in January. Camryn Bunger also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Mullen's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 19-3. As for Wilcox-Hildreth, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.

Mullen does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wilcox-Hildreth, they will square off against Shelton at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. Shelton will roll in looking for their 26th straight victory, something Wilcox-Hildreth surely won't give up without a fight.
