Baseball Game Preview: El Dorado Golden Hawks vs. El Modena Vanguards

The El Dorado Golden Hawks will venture away from home to square off against the El Modena Vanguards at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. El Dorado's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so El Modena's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

El Dorado's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Friday's struggle, when Cypress hitters got past them. The Golden Hawks came up short against the Centurions on Friday, falling 13-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Golden Hawks have suffered against the Centurions since February 24, 2020.

El Dorado saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Kim, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

El Modena's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Foothill on Friday. The Vanguards sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Knights.

El Modena has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-15 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for El Dorado, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 18-6 record.

El Dorado skirted past El Modena 1-0 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Hawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
