Preview: Dunellen Destroyers vs. Mother Seton Setters
Dunellen is 8-2 against the Setters since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Dunellen Destroyers will be playing at home against the Mother Seton Setters at 4:00 p.m. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Dunellen: 28.3, the Setters: 21.6) so any points scored will be well earned.
On Wednesday, Dunellen didn't have too much trouble with the Hornets on the road as they won 51-34. Given Dunellen's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Hornets are ranked 353rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dunellen's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Wendy Woll led the charge by scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Woll hasn't dropped below four steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Sophie Jimenez, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Mother Seton waltzed into their game on Monday with three straight wins but they left with four. They beat East Brunswick Vo-Tech by the very same score they won with last week: 25-15.
Dunellen is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Mother Seton, their win bumped their record up to 12-3.
Dunellen took their victory against the Setters when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 36-10. Will Dunellen repeat their success, or do the Setters have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
