Basketball Recap: Pamlico Christian Academy Wins Going Away Against Christ Covenant

Pamlico Christian Academy had to skate by with only a one-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 25-point drubbing they dealt Christ Covenant on Tuesday. The Mariners blew past the Spartans 63-38. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mariners also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Noah Haywood had a dynamite game, dropping a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 boards gave him a new career-high. Zac Salen was another key player, shooting 60% from the field on his way to 17 points.

Pamlico Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Christ Covenant lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Tyler Roberson, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Karson Bagnal, who put up 14 points.

Pamlico Christian Academy's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-4. As for Christ Covenant, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Pamlico Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 60-33 victory against Jacksonville Christian Academy on the 12th. As for Christ Covenant, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-43 loss against Terra Ceia Christian on the 11th.
