Palo Verde had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Centennial Bulldogs on Thursday. The Panthers' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Ava Koenig made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taylor Johns, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Kayleen Enriquez, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Palo Verde's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Centennial, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 17-12 record.

As of now, neither Palo Verde nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
