Softball Game Preview: Sachem North vs. Commack Cougars

Sachem North will head out to challenge the Commack Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Sachem North's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on April 6th. Everything went their way against Copiague as they made off with a 15-0 victory.

Meanwhile, Commack entered their tilt with Lindenhurst on Saturday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 6-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Not much got past Kate Schweitzer, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Lindenhurst off the board.

At the plate, Maggie Schumacher was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Johnston, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Commack's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Sachem North, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Sachem North beat Commack 4-1 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sachem North since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
