Volleyball Game Preview: CORE Butte Lynx vs. Burney Raiders

The CORE Butte Lynx will venture away from home to take on the Burney Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. CORE Butte will be strutting in after a victory while Burney will be coming in after a loss.

CORE Butte can't be too worried about heading out to take on Burney: they just beat Paradise Adventist Academy at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. The Lynx were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Cougars on Thursday. The Lynx haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

The final score came out to 25-14, 25-21, 25-14.

Meanwhile, Burney lost 3-0 to Redding Christian on Thursday. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-11, 25-14.

CORE Butte will have to keep a close watch on Ciera Wilson and Alexis Witzel, a pair of players who had a big impact on Burney's prior game. Wilson had 37 digs, while Witzel had 25 digs and seven kills. Wilson has been hot recently, having posted 22 or more digs the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Aimee Hampton, who had 13 digs and two aces.

Burney now has a losing record of 10-11. As for CORE Butte, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6.

Everything went CORE Butte's way against Burney in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as CORE Butte made off with a 3-0 win. Will the Lynx repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
