Pharr-San Juan-Alamo is a perfect 10-0 against Edinburg since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo will head out to take on Edinburg at 7:00 p.m. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Edinburg will be up against a hot Pharr-San Juan-Alamo squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Los Fresnos 2-0. The two-run effort marked the Bears' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
The result came thanks to Jacob Delgadillo's shutout, as he gave up just a hit. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had over his last four contests.
On the hitting side, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Zeke Garza, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Edinburg fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Harlingen on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bobcats have suffered since April 26, 2024.
Jude Vega was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Edinburg's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 4-9 when he doesn't).
This is the second loss in a row for Edinburg and nudges their season record down to 6-10. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, their win bumped their record up to 15-2-1.
Edinburg's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Pharr-San Juan-Alamo hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .368. It's a different story for Edinburg, though, as they've only averaged .190. Will they be able to contain Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's hitters?
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo skirted past Edinburg 8-6 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Pharr-San Juan-Alamo repeat their success, or does Edinburg has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
