Basketball Game Preview: Rowe Warriors vs. McAllen Memorial Mustangs

The Rowe Warriors will head out to square off against the McAllen Memorial Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Rowe easily dispatched Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Rowe fell just short of Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North by a score of 40-37 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, McAllen Memorial strolled past Sharyland with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 49-34.

McAllen Memorial's win came from a few key players Rowe will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Madison Borjas, who posted 14 points and eight boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in rebounds. Ann Mabadeje was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.

McAllen Memorial smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in ten consecutive contests.

McAllen Memorial pushed their record up to 21-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Rowe, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 21-7 record this season.

Rowe couldn't quite finish off McAllen Memorial when the teams last played back in December of 2024 and fell 56-54. Can Rowe avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
