Volleyball Recap: Foxcroft Falls Despite Big Games from Sophie Arellano and Katharina Eltzschig

If Foxcroft was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Wakefield School on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Foxcroft lost 3-0 to the Eastern Mennonite Flames on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Foxcroft of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2023.

Foxcroft was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-12, 25-6.

Katharina Eltzschig and Sophie Arellano certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Eltzschig had 16 digs and two aces, while Arellano had 22 digs. Eltzschig is crushing it when it comes to aces: she's served at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Foxcroft's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Eastern Mennonite, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Foxcroft will host Tandem Friends at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Eastern Mennonite, they will square off against New Covenant at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday.
