Baseball Recap: Franklin County Triumphs

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Franklin County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Western Hills Wolverines, sneaking past 5-4. This was payback for the Flyers, who suffered a 4-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Jack Ross was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Franklin County's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 4-2 (and 6-13 when he doesn't). Ross was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted over his last eight contests.

Ross wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nate Ross, who went 1-for-5 with two stolen bases and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Nate has posted since back in March of 2025.

The win made it two in a row for Franklin County and bumps their season record up to 10-15. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Western Hills, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17-1 record this season.

Franklin County will have a chance to go back-to-back against Western Hills: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
