Recap: Heritage Patriots vs. Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes
The Heritage Patriots pushed their score all the way to 66 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 67-66 to Monroe Area. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Thursday (60), Heritage still had to take the loss.
Heritage's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Armond Smith, who scored 15 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Those seven assists set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Kirk Seeley, who scored 15 points.
Even though they lost, Heritage were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Heritage has fallen quite a ways from their 18-9 record last season and are now at 5-8. As for Monroe Area, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Heritage won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Loganville at 2:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Loganville is ranked 357th, while Heritage is ranked 351st).
