Soccer Game Preview: Santa Fe vs. Sandia

Santa Fe hasn't had much luck against Sandia recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Demons will head out to challenge the Matadors at 6:30 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Santa Fe's offense. They came up short against La Cueva on Saturday, falling 5-0.

Meanwhile, Sandia also failed to score in their most recent game. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eldorado on Monday. While losing is never fun, Sandia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico soccer rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Eldorado are ranked second).

Sandia's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Santa Fe, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.

Santa Fe suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Sandia in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Demons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
