 Bunker Hill and East Alton-Wood River are an even 3-3 against one another  since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Bunker Hill Minutemen will head out on the road to  square off against  the East Alton-Wood River Oilers at 4:30  p.m.  on Friday. Bunker Hill will be strutting in after a  victory while East Alton-Wood River will be coming in after a  loss.
 On Thursday, Bunker Hill narrowly escaped with a  win as the  squad sidled past Lutheran  5-4. The  victory made it back-to-back  wins for Bunker Hill.
  Mason McCurdy was  excellent,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was  Roland Thyer, who  scored a  run while  getting on base  in two of his four plate appearances.
 Meanwhile, East Alton-Wood River fell victim to a  rough 11-4 defeat at the hands of Greenfield/Northwestern  on Tuesday. East Alton-Wood River has now  taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
  Drake Champlin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  went 1-for-2 with a  home run and two  RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of  Tim Melton, who  scored a  run while going 2-for-3.
 Even though they lost, East Alton-Wood River  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with ten  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenfield/Northwestern only tossed three.
 Bunker Hill now  has a winning record of 3-2. As for East Alton-Wood River, they now  have a losing record at 1-2-1.
 Bunker Hill's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's   match. Bunker Hill has been swiping bases left and right this season,  having  averaged 5.2  stolen bases per game. It's a different story for East Alton-Wood River, though, as  they've been averaging  only 1.2  per game. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Bunker Hill continue to outrun the ball?
 Bunker Hill skirted past East Alton-Wood River  6-5 when the teams last played  back in April of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bunker Hill since the  team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
