Basketball Recap: Greece Olympia Gets Big Win over Higher-Ranked Batavia

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wellsville, Greece Olympia was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They managed a 58-52 win over the Batavia Blue Devils. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Spartans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 542nd, while the Blue Devils are ranked 155th).

Greece Olympia is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points over those games. As for Batavia, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greece Olympia will face off against Greece Athena at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Batavia, they will square off against Greece Arcadia at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
