League recap: Molinar breaks off league-leading run for Roosevelt

3A Tri-Valley recap September 4, 2013

Roosevelt's Randy Molinar rumbled for the longest rushing play in 3A Tri-Valley this season in his game against Eaton last week. Molinar scampered for 93 yards on the play and finished with 274 on the day as his team defeated the Reds.

Mead took down Valley 47-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Griffin Nelson threw for 103 yards and 4 touchdowns and ran for 73 yards during the win.

Nelson put up the best numbers through the air as the Maverick topped the Vikings. Nelson's favorite target this week was Logan Anderson, who caught 2 passes for 30 yards.

Garret Angstead was a passing and rushing force as Skyline lost to Niwot. Angstead's key target this week was Justin Forsyth, who caught 4 passes for 109 yards.

Molinar was the best running back in the league this week. Teammate Lincoln Schultz added to the ground attack by rushing for 135 yards.

Molinar was a force in the backfield as Roosevelt defeated Eaton.

Forsyth was the best receiver in the league this week as the Falcons lost to the Cougars. Dominic Mansanares helped Skyline's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 47 yards.

He went 5-7 with 0 interceptions.

Skyline's Angstead and Forsyth have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 3A Tri-Valley in both passing and receiving yards. Angstead has thrown for 201 yards this season, while Forsyth, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 4 catches for 109 yards. Molinar from Noland Eastin's team leads the league in rushing with 274 yards.

Northridge made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,980 from 7,145. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 28-18 victory over Pueblo Central last week.
