Volleyball Recap: New Smyrna Beach Finds Playoff Glory Versus Jones + How To Watch

With a playoff win on the line, New Smyrna Beach rose to the challenge on Monday. Everything went their way against the Jones Fightin' Tigers as they made off with a 3-0 win. The Barracudas not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since September 15th (when they won 3-0).

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant New Smyrna Beach was: they took every set by at least 16 points. The final score came out to 25-6, 25-1, 25-9.

Leading New Smyrna Beach to victory were Teagan Lux and Elianna Eichhorn. Lux had three digs and three aces, while Eichhorn had eight digs and four aces. Those eight digs gave Eichhorn a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: New Smyrna Beach was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. They are 5-1 when they serve at least ten aces.

With the victory, New Smyrna Beach broke their five-match losing streak and moved their record to 9-16. As for Jones, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.

New Smyrna Beach will face off against Atlantic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jones does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
