Basketball Recap: Aidan Bryant's Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Decatur over Edinburgh

South Decatur was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 66-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Edinburgh Lancers. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lancers earlier this season, when they won 57-53.

South Decatur's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aidan Bryant, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 20 points. The dominant performance gave Bryant a new career-high in points. Lucas Ballard was another key player, going 6-for-13 en route to 13 points and six boards.

South Decatur's defeat dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Edinburgh, their win bumped their record up to 10-12.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cougars face off against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Edinburgh, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 45-42 victory against Brown County on the 27th.
