Central Cabarrus posted their closest win since April 9, 2024 on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the East Lincoln Mustangs, sneaking past 7-6. That's more bragging rights for the Vikings, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Peyton Smith was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Those runs marked the first that she scored this season. Another player making a difference was Hayden Johnson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Smith wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Central Cabarrus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.

Central Cabarrus pushed their record up to 4-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for East Lincoln, their record now sits at 2-2.

Central Cabarrus has already played their next game, a 16-4 win against Lake Norman Charter on the 14th. As for East Lincoln, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-2 victory against Hickory on the 14th.
