Softball Game Preview: Grosse Pointe North Norsemen vs. Algonac Muskrats

The Grosse Pointe North Norsemen will face off against the Algonac Muskrats at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Grosse Pointe North's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lakeland on Saturday. The Norsemen have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Algonac came out on top against Franklin on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. The Muskrats narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Patriots 11-10.

The team relied heavily on Michael Kenel, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Autumn Dueweke, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Algonac was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .591. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Grosse Pointe North's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Algonac, their win bumped their record up to 4-7-1.

Grosse Pointe North skirted past Algonac 6-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Norsemen have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Muskrats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
