Football Recap: Berry Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Berry extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They were outmatched by the A.L. Brown Wonders and fell 42-6. The Cardinals were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-0.

Berry's loss came despite strong showings from Elijah Britt and Justin Williams. Britt gained 120 total yards and a touchdown, while Williams rushed for 35 yards. Britt really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 70 yards.

As for A.L. Brown, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 75th, while Berry is ranked 307th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

AJ Settles produced another solid performance rushing for 83 yards and two scores, while also throwing for 113 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (156.3). Another player making a difference was Bryce Morgan, who gained 72 total yards and two touchdowns.

Berry didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 17-0 defeat against Hickory Ridge on the 3rd. As for A.L. Brown, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 24-21 loss against Olympic on the 3rd.
