Softball Game Preview: Narrows Green Waves vs. Giles Spartans

Narrows is 1-9 against Giles since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Green Waves will look to defend their home field against the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. Narrows has given up an average of 18 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Narrows is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 19th straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They lost 18-2 to Parry McCluer. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Green Waves couldn't push the score so high this time.

Lakyn South was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Gracie Caudill, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Giles waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Bears get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. Considering the Spartans have won three games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Giles let Addison Hylton and Summer Ceritano run wild. Hylton scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3, while Ceritano went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those runs marked the first that Hylton scored this season. Addisyn Vanderpool was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Giles' victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Narrows, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
