Baseball Game Preview: Rock Canyon Jaguars vs. Heritage Eagles

Rock Canyon is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Monday. They will be playing at home against the Heritage Eagles at 4:15 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Rock Canyon managed to slip by Cherry Creek the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Jaguars came up short against the Bruins two weeks ago, falling 12-1. The matchup marked the Jaguars' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Rock Canyon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grant Carmann, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Heritage lost 12-6 to Fossil Ridge on Saturday.

Jameson Switzer and Hunter Eells stepped up to the plate in a big way. Switzer went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Eells went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Switzer has become a key player for Heritage: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 2-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Laudano, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Heritage has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Rock Canyon, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4.

Everything went Rock Canyon's way against Heritage in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Rock Canyon made off with a 12-2 victory. Will the Jaguars repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
