Preview: Northtown Pumas vs. Our Lady of Tepeyac Tigers
The Northtown Pumas will head out on the road to face off against the Our Lady of Tepeyac Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 11 consecutive losses for Northtown and eight for Our Lady of Tepeyac.
Northtown suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They were dealt a 67-13 loss at the hands of Walther Christian Academy. Northtown was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-7.
Our Lady of Tepeyac lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Wednesday was a bit more commanding. They were beaten by Christ the King 70-2. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Our Lady of Tepeyac has scored all season.
Northtown dropped their record down to 0-10 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.4 points per game. As for Our Lady of Tepeyac, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.
Northtown came up short against Our Lady of Tepeyac when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 30-26. Can Northtown avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
