Basketball Game Preview: Alvirne Broncos vs. Salem Blue Devils

The Alvirne Broncos will head out on the road to take on the Salem Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Alvirne is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Hampshire's top teams: Portsmouth, who was ranked fourth at the time (Alvirne was ranked fifth). Alvirne was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 39-38 to Portsmouth. The defeat continues a trend for the Broncos in their matchups with the Clippers: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, Salem was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 60-59 to Londonderry.

Salem has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Alvirne, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3.

Alvirne strolled past Salem in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 65-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Alvirne since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
