Basketball Recap: Roncalli Catholic Comes Up Short

Roncalli Catholic was the 52-49 winner over Elkhorn when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Roncalli Catholic Crimson Pride fell 64-56 to the Elkhorn Antlers on Saturday.

Elkhorn's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Peter Howard led the charge by putting up 21 points. Howard is becoming a predictor of Elkhorn's success: when he posts at least 15 points the team is 5-2 (and 5-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Nixon Farmer, who went 6-for-15 on his way to 18 points.

Roncalli Catholic has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points over those games. The win made it two in a row for Elkhorn and bumps their season record up to 10-10.

As of now, neither Roncalli Catholic nor Elkhorn have any future games scheduled.
