Softball Recap: Our Lady of Mercy Academy Takes a Loss

Our Lady of Mercy Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Middle Township Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Villagers have suffered since May 11, 2024.

Riley Welker was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Riley Storms was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Our Lady of Mercy Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Middle Township, their win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Our Lady of Mercy Academy will challenge Gloucester Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Middle Township, they will venture away from home to challenge Holy Spirit at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
