Baseball Recap: Midwest Central Takes a Loss

Midwest Central was the 13-3 winner over Bushnell-Prairie City when they last played one another back in May of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Raiders fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 8-7 on Friday.

Ryan Terrill was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Midwest Central's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-2 (and 0-6 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Jaxon Tumilty and Joe Proehl did some serious damage despite the final result: Tumilty went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI, while Proehl went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Proehl has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Evan Schmidt also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Midwest Central has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. Bushnell-Prairie City's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-19.

Midwest Central has already played their next contest, a 10-0 victory against Illini Central on the 2nd. As for Bushnell-Prairie City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 17-2 defeat against Macomb on the 2nd.
