Basketball Recap: Staples Takes a Loss

After flying high against Norwalk last Thursday, Staples came back down to earth. The Staples Wreckers were beaten by the Stamford Black Knights 60-25 on Tuesday. The contest marked the Wreckers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Staples lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Addie Talbott, who posted eight points and three steals. Talbott is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Marley Belzer, who put up six points and five boards.

Staples' loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-5. As for Stamford, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Staples will square off against Darien at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Stamford, they will face off against Ridgefield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
