Softball Recap: Tavares Extends Winning Streak to Three

Tavares hadn't done well against Mount Dora Christian Academy recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Tavares walked away with a 7-3 win over Mount Dora Christian Academy. While Tavares didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Emersyn Lee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jasmine Lawrence was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Blakely Kite, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

The victory was the third in a row for Tavares, bringing their record up to 4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Dora Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.

Tavares didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-6 victory against Citrus on the 20th. As for Mount Dora Christian Academy, they have also already played their next contest, a 16-3 win against Umatilla on the 21st.
