Softball Recap: Diamond Ranch Beats Montclair for Their Third Straight Victory

Diamond Ranch won against Montclair on Wednesday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Panthers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Cavaliers an 11-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Izel Avalos made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Olivia Jauregui was excellent, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs. Liset Renteria was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

The victory was the third in a row for Diamond Ranch, bringing their record up to 16-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Montclair, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.

Looking ahead, Diamond Ranch will square off against Ontario Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Montclair does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
