Football Game Preview: Lutheran Lions vs. Eagle Valley Devils + How To Watch

The Lutheran Lions will face off against the Eagle Valley Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lutheran knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Eagle Valley likes a good challenge.

Lutheran's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Kennedy 42-0. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by 27 points or more this season.

Eli Abramson produced another solid effort throwing for 179 yards and four TDs while completing 90% of his passes. He has been hot, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last six times he's played.

Lutheran's run defense was locked in: Kennedy could only muster 3.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Will Thomas for the heroic effort on defense: he. Lutheran didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.3.

Lutheran's defense didn't let Marcelis Allen, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Rylan Tisdall with two. Lutheran received some extra help from Tisdall, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Meanwhile, Eagle Valley lost to Palisade on the road by a 28-10 margin last Friday. The game marked the Devils' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Lutheran is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to yards per carry: they averaged an imposing 8.9 yards per carry in those games compared to only 3.33 in the others. Having lost for the first time this season, Eagle Valley fell to 9-1.

Lutheran strolled past Eagle Valley in their previous matchup back in September of 2017 by a score of 16-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
