Baseball Game Preview: Groveton Indians vs. West Sabine Tigers

The Groveton Indians will head out to take on the West Sabine Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Groveton is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

Last Friday, Groveton made easy work of Colmesneil and carried off a 17-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

TY TORREGROSA was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, JAKE PLOTTS and DAX PARKER did most of the damage at the plate: PLOTTS went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while PARKER went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most runs PLOTTS has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was CADE WHITE, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, West Sabine didn't have quite enough to beat Corrigan-Camden on Friday and fell 12-11.

Kade Myrann was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Bourque, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

West Sabine's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-9. As for Groveton, their record now sits at 20-4.

Everything went Groveton's way against West Sabine in their previous meeting back in March, as Groveton made off with an 8-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
