Baseball Recap: Stebbins Comes Up Short

Stebbins had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 6-7 to make it four. They came up short against Piqua, falling 10-0. Stebbins was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Piqua earlier this season, when they won 5-2.

As for Piqua, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games.

For Piqua's part, Hunter Steinke made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Steinke has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Cohen Brown was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jack McMaken, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stebbins will welcome Troy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Piqua, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Anna at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
