Basketball Recap: Greene County Comes Up Short

Greene County's last matchup with Pass Christian could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Friday. The Wildcats were dealt an 85-57 defeat at the hands of the Pirates. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Pirates are ranked 60th).

When it comes to explaining why Greene County lost, don't look at Cordarius Molten. Despite the final result, he shot 50% from the field en route to 18 points. The game was Molten's third in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Mareo Green, who posted six points.

Greene County has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Pass Christian, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-9.

Greene County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-27 loss against Bay Springs on the 19th. As for Pass Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 64-61 win against Forrest County Agricultural on the 20th.
