The Deer Valley Skyhawks will head out to take on the Agua Fria Owls at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Deer Valley is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games.
On Thursday, Deer Valley made easy work of Peoria and carried off a 9-1 win. The Skyhawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by eight runs or more this season.
Gaven McDonald made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over seven innings pitched. McDonald was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tyler Carr, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Hunter Metz was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Agua Fria's offense. They lost 26-0 to Estrella Foothills on Thursday. The Owls haven't had much luck with the Wolves recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
Deer Valley pushed their record up to 15-8-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Agua Fria, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.
Agua Fria's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Deer Valley has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. It's a different story for Agua Fria, though, as they've been averaging 12 hits. Given Deer Valley's sizable advantage in that area, the Owls will need to find a way to close that gap.
Deer Valley took their victory against Agua Fria in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-2 score. Will the Skyhawks repeat their success, or do the Owls have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
